The Atlanta Falcons are winless heading into Dallas to play the Cowboys.

Atlanta fell to 0-6 Sunday with a 23-13 loss to the Houston Oilers. The Falcons are off to their worst start since 1985 and the second-worst in franchise history. In its expansion year of 1966, Atlanta lost its first nine games.

Bobby Hebert threw a pair of touchdown passes to Terance Mathis and completed 31-of-46, but both his interceptions led to Houston scores. He remained winless in his third start in place of Jeff George, who was suspended four games for conduct detrimental to the team.

Emmitt Smith ran for 112 yards and two touchdowns, including the 100th of his career, as Dallas (3-welcomed back wide receiver Michael Irvin with a 17-3 victory over the Arizona Cardinals Sunday.

Irvin, back in the lineup after serving a five-game suspension for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy, caught five passes for 51 yards, including four for 46 in the first half.

Defensive end Shante Carver, who was suspended six games for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, is expected to play his first game of the season Sunday.

The Cowboys have won three of the last four meetings with Atlanta, including a 28-13 triumph last year. They lead the all-time series, 12-6. Dallas is hosting the matchup for the first time since 1991.
