With the week before training camp
among us, the signings have finally begun.
The Cowboys reached a contract agreement on Sunday with cornerback Nate Jones of Rutgers.
Jones, one of three seventh-round picks this year, agreed on a three-year contract, with a signing bonus of $41,500. His base salaries will be $230,000 in 2004, $305,000 in 2005 and $385,000 in 2006.
Their other picks in that round - Patrick Crayton and Jacques Reeves - could sign as soon as Monday, according the local news reports.
Jones, who was drafted as a cornerback, excelled at Rutgers as a kick returner. He averaged 25.7 yards per return for his career.
