The Cowboys traded kick returner/wide receiver Reggie Swinton to the Green Bay Packers for a conditional 2004 NFL draft pick.
The Cowboys could receive a seventh-round pick if he remains on the Packers’ roster for a certain number of games.
Swinton, who was believed to be among the final cuts in training camp, remained on the team after he returned a kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown in the final preseason game against the Oakland Raiders.
But since then rookie Zuriel Smith has had the kickoff duties. Swinton has been inactive for the past two games.
With tackle Ryan Young’s status in question with a knee injury, the Cowboys called up Torrin Tucker from the practice squad to take Swinton’s roster slot. The team felt it better to provide some offensive line depth – a feeling that no doubt came from last year’s fiasco with injuries to the line.
