Cowboys’ head coach Bill Parcells has retained another coach from last year’s staff, keeping defensive ends coach Jim Jeffcoat.
Jeffcoat was informed on Tuesday that he would continue in that capacity, joining defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer as a coach from the prior administration. He has the distinction of being associated with all coaches in the history of the franchise.
Drafted by then-coach Tom Landry, Jeffcoat spent 12 seasons with the Cowboys and was a member of the back-to-back Super Bowl teams of 1992 and 1993 under Jimmy Johnson.
His final season as a player was under Barry Switzer, when he left to play for the Buffalo Bills for three seasons.
After retiring, he returned to the Cowboys in 1998 as a defensive line assistant under Chan Gailey. He moved to his current position of defensive ends coach under Dave Campo in 2000.
